OUR SUSTAINABILITY STORY

Wild Ambition

We’ve heard the call for the protection and rewilding of nature. As the largest certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, we’re leading research around best practice in claiming, recycling and measuring carbon in vineyards. And that’s just the start.

Regenerative Agriculture

Our intention to take more natural approaches to growing is in action. By boosting soil health, we ramp up biodiversity. We start by adding microbes to the vineyard’s soil to increase nutrition efficiency. When the grapes are pressed, all seeds skins and stalks are turned into compost (8,000+ tonnes a year) and returned to the soil – nourishing our vines. We recycle everything we can – from the majority of vineyard trellising to up to 150 million liters of water every single year – continuing to work towards 100% renewable.

Responsible Energy

We’re working towards 100% renewable. It’s our goal. And we’re on the way. Reductions in carbon emissions. Solar panels which have avoided over 750 tonnes of C02 emissions. A partnership with LAVO on a pilot roll out of green energy storage technology which involves a hybrid hydrogen battery and solar panels. Each step we tread brings us closer to our target, and there’s more to come.

Our Packaging

We’re always exploring new sustainable packaging options. The priority? Recycled materials that can be recycled at the end of its life. Today, we use FSC-certified recycled cardboard, labels made from sugar cane and even lighter bottles.

In Partnership

As we continue our journey towards better, we’ve been exploring our overarching business sustainability practices. We’re now very excited to report that our parent brand, Duxton Vineyards, is now a Bronze Partner of Sustainability Advantage, a program of the NSW Government’s Office of Energy and Climate Change.

We, as a whole, are committed to further strengthening our environmental performance through collaboration with the Office and this is just the first of several next steps. We are very proud to have our efforts recognised by the NSW Government’s Office of Energy and Climate Change. Find out more around the award here.
